Yoga has come in and out of my life for many years since my late teens, but was always about the physical practice; my real respect and love affair with Yoga didn’t start until much later just before I turned 30.

After years of treating my body and self unkindly, in my mid 20’s I found a new passion with health and fitness, I absolutely loved this feeling and change within me and knew I wanted to help people to feel the same.  So in 2012 I completed Certificates 3 & 4 in Fitness and was lucky enough to gain employment at a local gym as a group fitness instructor & PT that same year.  I have been honoured to have worked with some amazing people in my working life, people who have shaped and helped me grow. Barbie Clutterbuck and Mick Bourne have been great mentors of mine whom I met while working at the gym. Barbie has become one of my great teachers in Yoga, humility and humanity, she has been pivotal in my journey as a Yoga Teacher.

As an enthusiastic PT my life became very much revolved around the gym, I lived, worked and breathed the gym, I soon realised that too much of one thing is never good. I started attending Barbie’s yoga classes as a way of still being able to move my body while also allowing my mind and body to rest. Initially it was still about the physical and doing but I soon started to feel a shift, Barbie opened up the true essence of Yoga to me.  So here is where it all began, I knew I wanted to learn more and share Yoga so Barbie encouraged me to attend a teacher training. She soon connected me with Patsy Lindschau, who has also become a great teacher of mine. It was in 2014 I travelled to Bali to complete my 200 hour intensive Yoga Teacher Training with the Santosha Yoga Institute. While there I also completed a Pre & Post Natal and Children’s Yoga course.

On my return I joined in the collaboration and we began the Port Lincoln School of Yoga. During this time I was lucky enough to meet Karlie Bell who has also become one of my great teachers.

In 2015 I had my first child and then went on to have my second a close 19 months later. This time of my life is so full and busy and has led me away from my mat more than I would like, but it has also opened me up to so much. It has given me time to explore the other aspects of Yoga off the mat and how it can be incorporated in my everyday life without actually physically being on my mat, although nothing beats a good class or home practice.

This time also lead to me finding a passion in and begin teaching prenatal Yoga, postnatal yoga, mums & bubs and recently children’s Yoga. This year I completed some more Kids YTT with Yoga Kids SA. I am looking forward to starting the IYTA diploma in 2020 and what is to come with this journey… forever the student.

Yoga for me is the ultimate holistic health practice, nurturing body, mind, soul and spirit. It is this soft light, this gentle voice sitting on my shoulder encouraging and reminding me to feel more and think less, to feel better, move better, breath better, be better in all aspects of my life. My passion is to teach, support and encourage people to feel the same by safely bringing better heath, alignment and balance into others lives, sending ripples out into the world. I teach Hatha Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, Postnatal Yoga, Mums & Bubs, Kids Yoga, Intro to Yoga at our studio, as well as spin classes and occasionally PT at our local Anytime Fitness.

I feel so fortunate and have much gratitude for the opportunities I have had, the people I have met and to have been a part of creating our school. I feel so humbled and sweetly guided through Yoga & life with the support of these beautiful Yoga teachers and mentors by my side.
